Would you like to support Just-A-Start as we respond to the St. Patrick’s Place Fire?

As many of you know, Just-A-Start (JAS) owns St. Patrick’s Place, the former church and surrounding buildings on York Street: # 50, 40, 30, and 26 York Street. These buildings are affordable homes for 32 families, many of whom lost everything in the devastating fire on December 3. The buildings that sustained the most damage are 50 and 40 York Street (the former St. Patrick’s Church), and we are working with the appropriate City officials Saint_Patricks_Apts_SiteSizeand agencies to assess the damage and determine how best to move forward with the buildings.

The residents who lost their homes have been provided with temporary accommodations at local hotels, with as many details covered as possible, e.g. school buses are picking up students to make sure they get to their classes; food is being provided; etc. We are working with the City of Cambridge to find permanent homes for all individuals and families as quickly as we can, and we will continue to provide updates.

Many of you have asked how you can help. JAS will be establishing the St. Patrick’s Fund and if you would like to donate, you can click on the DONATE button below or the DONATE button in the upper right-hand corner of this page. We are very grateful for your support of these families during this difficult time.

All of us at Just-A-Start are grateful to be part of a community like Cambridge that – particularly when tragedy happens – rallies around, provides support and comfort, and comes together to help in every way possible.
