The Economic Mobility Hub at Rindge Commons is here!

Built to the highest environmental and energy efficiency standard, The Hub is a new, 70,000 square foot, mixed-use development at Alewife, bringing together a state-of-the-art education and job training center, affordable housing, childcare, and services available to the entire neighborhood.

We’re addressing the issues families are faced with today.

Housing

Rental costs have increased dramatically over the past 10 years and a lack of affordable housing has increased to record high numbers.

Employment

Systemic disadvantages for people of color make competing for quality employment, especially in industries like technology and life sciences, difficult.

Sustainable income

Without stabilized housing and career-oriented employment, families are struggling to live financially independent.

By bringing all of our services to one central location, a participant may enter one program and then have exposure and the opportunity to participate in another. We will continue to do what we do best—build homes, careers and futures.

Celebrate the Success of the Capital Campaign

In 2022, Just A Start launched our first-ever capital campaign to raise the necessary funds for the construction of the Economic Mobility Hub at Rindge Commons. Now that our new home is open, we recognize and deeply appreciate the leadership and hard work of the Campaign Cabinet, along with the generosity of the donors who helped create an enduring resource for our community to thrive.

To date, we have raised a total of $5.6 million, exceeding our campaign goal of $4.25 million by 30%!
